43-year-old Chandra Kurt is Swiss and lives in Zurich

I was born in Sri Lanka, where my Swiss father was carrying out field research on elephants. My name means 'moon' in Tamil and is more commonly a boy's name. Since my mother is Italian, I was brought up bilingual in German and Italian; however, my French is fluent and I speak English most of the time. One of my first journalism assignments was a portrait of my maternal grandparents' neighbours in Italy, who produced Lambrusco wine: this was what started my passion. Since 1998, I've written 20 books, including Weinseller--my annual, independent guide to value-for-money wines from many countries, including Switzerland, which are sold in Swiss chain stores.
