A life-sized bronze sculpture, made by Swiss artist, Alberto Giacometti (1901-1966) has broken the record to become the most expensive work of art ever to sell at auction. The sculpture, named L'Homme qui Marche I (Walking Man) sold for 65,001,250 [pounds sterling] (SFr 108,576,000) at a February auction, held by Sotherby's in London. Although preauction estimates valued it at between 12 million [pounds sterling] and 18 million [pounds sterling], a storm of bids quickly pushed the price many times higher.
