Swiss look for nuclear waste solution.

Switzerland is looking for a long-term site to store its radioactive nuclear waste. Five nuclear reactors in Beznau, Muhleberg, Gosgen and Leibstadt produce 40 per cent of Swiss electricity. Waste is currently sent away, or kept in the reactors or in a temporary depot in Wurenlingen.

The environment ministry is looking at several possible locations for a permanent storage site, including an underground one near the German border. But the minister says the first step is a comprehensive debate concerning whether underground storage is the best solution.
