Two issues are coming to a vote on February 24. Swiss will be asked to weigh in on proposed reforms to ease the tax burden on entrepreneurial activities and investments.

Details are spelled out in the Law on the Reform of Business Taxation II, which was approved by parliament last spring.

The measures aim to assist small and mid-sized enterprises as well as shareholders with more than ten per cent interest in a company.

Reforms are expected to divert SFr 56 million from federal coffers and between SFr 550 million and SFr 1.0 billion from cantonal ones--with the actual tally depending on how the cantons use their own taxation powers.

Supporters say lost revenues will be partially offset by an economic boost from the reforms.
