More than 600 million people worldwide work excessively long hours, with Peru leading 50 countries and Switzerland, among the worst offenders of rich nations, says the International Labour Organisation.

Reporting in June, the United Nations agency said progress towards a maximum 48-hour week was still uneven nearly a century after the standard was agreed by members of the ILO.

More than half of Peruvians work more than 48 hours a week followed closely by South Koreans, Thais and Pakistanis.
