Only connect.

In its second year, Women's Expo promises to bring more than 100 businesswomen together to learn from each other and meet thousands of customers. It's an opportunity entrepreneurs cannot afford to miss.

Throughout the world, women start up micro businesses as a way to combine work with family life--and then face the challenge of struggling to find time for promotion, making it difficult to realise their ventures' true potential.

Zimbabwean-born Lisa Mundembe-Chuma devised the Women's Expo Switzerland as a strategy to help business owners connect with the public, as well as, crucially, with each other. After the birth of her first child, Lisa discovered how isolating motherhood could be. But she remembered the inspiration she had received from her own mother, a single parent who had left Zimbabwe for London, and her friends--women who had created a loving, supportive group and enabled her to flourish, even in a foreign country.

Lisa had always wanted to motivate and support women to live their dreams, to be able to give back some of the inspiration and nurturing she herself received. With the expo, she has made it her mission to provide a platform for women to excel as well as show young girls that there are endless opportunities available. And so the expo is about far more than simply marketing: it's about creating a community. Bringing people together, providing opportunities for women-owned endeavours of any size, and building a family of women who can support each other.

These connections will be especially appreciated by expats, who typically lack the local family and friend networks that most people take for granted. And so building bridges between German- and English-speaking entrepreneurs is part of the mission: helping expats to integrate better into Switzerland.

Unparallelled opportunity

The Women's Expo was launched in 2013, with 85 exhibitors drawing more than 1,000 visitors. This year it aims to double those visitor numbers and to host 150 exhibitors.
