Swiss scientists have found a 'trust serum' that could help in the treatment of autism or phobias but could be a dangerous weapon in the wrong hands.

University of Zurich researchers say a sniff of the hormone oxytocin makes people more likely to trust others, raising the potential for manipulation of an emotion that is critical to social and economic relationships.

The study led by Michael Kosfeld and Ernst Fehr suggests oxytocin is fundamental to trust and causes changes in behaviour. "I believe that in the medium to long term this could have clinical applications." said Dr. Fehr. after study results were published...
