Zurich officials have been left shame-faced, following reports of widespread irregularities within the canton's Migration Department. In a letter to Migration Department Chief Adrian Baumann, Zurich-based solicitor Ueli Vogel-Etienne--who represents employees of the department listed a catalogue of failures and bad practices, ranging from management's disregard of working hours, to the routine circulation of pornographic images via the department's email system.

Other complaints include piles of asylum applications left for unreasonable periods of time, and staff surfing the Internet during working hours--often with the full knowledge of management.

Damning as this may be for the department, they face additional problems after it was revealed that migration officials obstructed Zurich police...
