For the first time Switzerland has taken part in a Europe-wide school survey on Alcohol and other Drugs use among schoolchildren aged between 13 and 16. The survey covers 35 countries.

The Swiss Institute for the Prevention of Alcohol and Drug Addiction has interviewed 7,000 teenagers across Switzerland and found that 80 per cent of Swiss 15-year-olds drink regularly despite being underage and more than half of the 16-year-olds go hinge drinking at least once a month.

The study also found that the spirit and alcopop consumption is very high and is more popular than that of beer and wine among young people. Furthermore, many of those interviewed said they had no problems getting their hands on spirits. In February this year...
