Top-level UBS investment bankers may soon face the wrath of their own colleagues, following publication of their salary details in Swiss Sunday newspaper Sonntag.

The standard monthly salary of a UBS director general working at the investment bank in Switzerland is SFr 66,666--excluding bonuses--according to data from a confidential early retirement plan uncovered by Sonntag. The retirement plan also revealed directors earn an average of SFr 54,166 per month and vice-directors earn SFr 29,166 per month, excluding bonuses.

The newspaper quoted an inside source who said the figures weren't even public knowledge within the bank itself, since equivalent-level private bank colleagues clearly earn less.

UBS spokesperson Michael Willi confirmed the figures, saying they represent actuarial levels.
