10 questions with Carlo Janka.

You may have seen him racing down the slopes, but you are more likely to recognise him from photos of his numerous victories. Recently revealed to be the third most sought name on Google Switzerland, Carlo Janka is proving to be one of the most popular Swiss alpine ski racers of his generation.

Born in 1986 in Obersaxen, Graub0nden, he completed his first International Ski Federation race when he was 15. Now a member of the Swiss national ski team, success has come in all four disciplines; however, it is in the giant slalom that Janka has really made a name for himself, with his accolades including gold medals from both the 2009 World Championships and the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

At the end of the 2009/2010 FIS season, Janka was crowned the fourth Swiss overall World Cup champion--the first Swiss champion since 1992--after he won in the disciplines downhill, giant slalom and super combined. So far in his young career, he has enjoyed 19 places on the podium, 9 of them as the winner.

After undergoing heart surgery in February this year, Janka celebrated his first victory of the season in Slovenia just a month later. 'The Iceman' took five minutes out of his busy training schedule to talk to Swiss News ...
