The relation between free trade and cultural diversity has been one of the most disputed issues in the negotiations concerning the liberalisation of international markets for audiovisual media in the World Trade Organization (WTO). Cultural diversity it not only en vogue as part of one's self-understanding of cultural identity but also a tremendous market.
