I caught up with [Eero Koivisto] at the 2005 Stockholm Furniture Fair, where this Swedish designer with a Finnish background showed off "Vertigo" and several other of his striking new creations, which are made by the OFFECCT furniture firm. He was sitting on a glorious new turquoise sofa called "Float," which he also designed.

"I have always been interested in integrating different things," says Koivisto. "By combining different functions something interesting is often created. That is how the Woob was created"

How about that odd name? The designer says that for months, he and his mates just called the lounge/work chair the "Work Object," which they eventually abbreviated to the acronym, Woob. "Does Woob mean anything in English?" the inventive designer asks the interviewer.
