Summary

Oslo's popular Munch Museum is a must-see for any visitor to the Norwegian capital. Some favorite sweaters become threadbare around the elbows, or the arms may start to sag towards the ground after a decade or so. But murdering a sweater...isn't that a bit extreme? Be that as it may, an exhibition this fall at Röhsska design museum called "Do, redo" inspired visitors to experience the noble art of knitware recycling. Old washedout wool sweaters -- donated by the Salvation Army -- were cut to pieces in order to serve as the foundation for the creation of new garments. With the help of a sharp pair of scissors and a big desire to decorate, designer and knitting expert Katarina Brieditis and her designer/artist colleague Katarina Evans demonstrated how one can slaughter a worn-out wool garment and give it new life in the form of a trendy skirt, jacket, cap, slippers or a bags. That exhibit will be followed by Fashion Futures, opening November 19, consisting of 10 outfits which represented Sweden at the international fashion competition Concours International des Jeunes Créateurs de Mode in Paris.

This bench, which Dahlström created for Nola, is available in oak, mahogany or teak Dahlström has received more than 20 national and international design awards. He is represented in museums like Victoria and Albert Museum in London, Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Köln, National-museum in Stockholm and Rööhska Museet in Gothenburg.
