The silent process of change.

Twenty years ago the conventional submarine (SSK) sector was seemingly vibrant, with multiple manufacturers all over Europe meeting domestic and export needs. In the former Soviet Union, domestic requirements, added to the need to supply satellite countries, also created massive demand for SSKs. On top of this, countries such as China and Japan also had significant SSK design and build capabilities. Massive industrial effort was in place to support what looked like an ever-growing SSK marketplace.
