Obviously your letter has stirred up if not a bit of controversy at least a high degree of interest.
Sir Peter Smithers: Well I've had an enormous number of people write to me saying they agree. I thought I might get some who took the other view. The only one I had who wasn't in enthusiastic agreement was obviously from a nut. If you are a member of Parliament, you get accustomed, you know a nut letter the minute you see it. Otherwise i've had a tremendous response from the "Heartland". The "Heartland"? The Swiss heartland, over the Alps. So, German-speaking Switzerland. They're the people who were really hurt.
