"Charlotte is one of Norway's most popular TV hosts. We chose her because she is a great TV personality and also a really nice girl that represents Norway in the best way. Charlotte hosted the MTV Europe Music Awards last year and shared the stage with superstars Robbie Williams and Madonna. We think it is fun to use such a profiled TV host. And then most of our customers are aged from 18 to 35 years, and so is she," says Moods of Norway designer Simen Staalnacke.
Perhaps his last name - it means "neck of steel" in English - has been helpful. You have to have strong faith in yourself to do what Staalnacke and his business and designer partner Peder Børresen did in 2003. The two boys from the town Stryn in the region Sogn og Fjordane created the label Moods of Norway, and asked their grandmothers to provide ancient patterns from Norwegian folk costumes. These patterns are often used as a detail on the Mood-clothes. The designers also include locals, often elderly people, from Stryn in their campaigns."We combine details from Norwegian culture, history and art with trendy clothes. Everything we make comes with a Norwegian twist to it and combines shape and design for different moods.
