The Nonnabúd boutique is obviously successful, but Jón regards himself primarily as an artist. In February 2005, he will stage an exhibit in Reykjavik's Galleri Svavar Karls. Mr. Dead regards his fashions as alternative works of art, too; "The clothing is basically a silkscreen on fabric that can be hung on the wall, or worn," he says. Mr. Dead will continue to explore the borderland between visual art and fashion in a new project. He is designing a line of suits, which will be hand-tailored and decorated to fit each individual, hand-made in Iceland and signed by the artist/designer. "A video DVD will be shot to record the entire process, starting with the customer's meeting with me. They can bring an old photograph to the meeting: it can be a picture of a favorite horse or their girlfriend Lulu, which I can put on the clothing. They will get a copy of the DVD together with the finished suit," Jón Sæmundur Audarson, aka Mr. Dead, explains.
