Invisible companions: there are some 40,000 animal species native to Switzerland. If you'd like to spot a few on your next walk through the woods, here's what to look for.

Even scientists don't know the precise number of animal species in the world. A common estimate is one-and-a-half million. What they do know is that at least three-quarters of them are insects. One cubic meter of earth in a forest contains at least 200,000 insects.
