Goat--the beverage: for the initiated, half the fun of offering someone a glass of 'chevre' is to see the look of confusion that usually ensues; the other half comes from the 'ums' and 'ahs' of the novice tasting the frothy, sweet, cool drink.

To most French-speakers, including natives of Geneva, the word 'chevre' means goat, and is sometimes used as a shortened form of 'fromage de chevre', or goat's cheese.
