I saw mainly American films, actually. The Iranian movies at that time were very poor, not as good as they are now. "The Godfather" made a big impression on me, and I liked "Sound of Music." I was a young boy, so I saw Westerns and Spaghetti Westerns like "Hang `Em High." I must have seen that 10 or 15 times (laughing). But there were also French films.

[Reza Bagher]: I spent a total of about six months living up there in order to write the script and do the film. When I flew up there the first time, the final leg of the journey was aboard a propeller plane, which brought me to a small airport. I thought a taxi would pick me up, but after about 15 minutes a bus came and I got aboard. After travelling for some 20-25 minutes, the bus stopped in the middle of nowhere. There was snow absolutely everywhere and a crossing of two roads. I said to the driver, "this must be a mistake. I am supposed to go all the way to central Pajala." The driver replied, "this is central Pajala."
