In an interview, Celine Charveriat, head of Oxfam's trade office in Geneva, talked about Oxfam's advocacy and collaboration with non-governmental organization (NGO). The organization considers fair trade products as a very important tool for cooperatives to differentiate their products and improve quality, as well as to understand marketing and how the supply chain works. They launched their "Make Trade Fair" campaign because they thought that world trade rules were rigged against the interests of the world's poor. Public education on trade and development is crucial but it is not easy. The key challenge is to energize people to act and make them realize that they can make a difference by making different consumption, investment and political choices.
