The bells of Carouge: their peal envelops the old town of Carouge in a floating cradle of sound. Swiss News meets the bell-master of one of Switzerland's largest carillons.
A carillon, according to Webster's dictionary, is "a set of fixed bells pitched in chromatic series of at least two octaves and sounded by hammers controlled by a keyboard, each bell being tuned to harmonize with the others." According to the North American Guild of Carillonneurs, in English the word is pronounced KEH-rihlon.
