Summary
Tove is a beautiful woman, but at a height of over 6 feet, she has often felt awkward, that she doesn't "fit" in certain settings or situations. By placing herself in the natural landscape, and by using fabric and paper to create structures and textures that connect to the forest, Tove makes a new context and "identity" for the body. It is hard to believe that this romantic and poetic self-portrait is the result of an academic exercise. But this photo series is, at the same time, an experiment in which the creator transcends her own vulnerability. Much labor and thought went into the project, as is reflected by Tove's description of the way in which she used paper to contrast with the birch forest.
