These animals are becoming trade symbols such as the Laussane-based Vaca Lechera, which is growing its chain of popular boutiques across Switzerland. In an interview, Jocelyn Wyatt, head of IDEO's social innovation design domain, talked about the power of design to change the world. IDEO began 30 years ago by designing products. However, over time they've applied the approach of human-centered design to services, spaces, businesses and systems. They believe in the power of design thinking to enrich and transform, and to take on big challenges that the world faces, from climate change to education and health care to financial inclusion. They are currently working with Acumen Fund on a water project in India and Kenya. In an interview, Celine Charveriat, head of Oxfam's trade office in Geneva, talked about Oxfam's advocacy and collaboration with non-governmental organization (NGO). The organization considers fair trade products as a very important tool for cooperatives to differentiate their products and improve quality, as well as to understand marketing and how the supply chain works. They launched their "Make Trade Fair" campaign because they thought that world trade rules were rigged against the interests of the world's poor. Public education on trade and development is crucial but it is not easy. The key challenge is to energize people to act and make them realize that they can make a difference by making different consumption, investment and political choices.
